Did you know that your body and skin are in repair mode while you sleep? Sleep deprivation can lead to a number of skin issues and we may start to see more fine lines, hyperpigmentation, sagged skin, moisture loss, dark circles, puffy eyes and a dull, washed out complexion. After an inadequate sleep, it gets released the stress hormone cortisol that breaks down the collagen and makes the skin more prominent to wrinkles and fine lines. We can avoid the rapid progression of aging by simply making a habit of getting 8 hours of sleep, giving our skin a chance to heal and improve itself from the day's damage. It’s the only way we will wake up looking fresh and rosy.
How can you help yourself get a better nights rest?
1. Wake up and go to bed at the same time every day.
2. Sleep in a dark, quiet room.
3. Use blackout shades and a noise machine if necessary.
4. Keep your bedroom cool.
5. Skip the caffeine late in the day.
6. Avoid drinking too much alcohol.
If we follow these simple rules we can expect to benefit from these beauty benefits:
1. Clear skin
More sleep, clearer skin. When we are well rested, our complexion looks more glowing and rejuvenated. And not only our skin will look more radiant, but also, our skin’s elasticity and softness will improve.
2. No dark circles
Lack of consistent good night sleep is one of the main causes of appearance of dark circles under eyes, as well as under eye wrinkles and puffy eyes. That’s why it is very important to rest every night and it will bring a refreshed complexion!
3. Fewer Breakouts
Lack of sleep can lead to stress, which causes pimples and blackheads, even in adults.
4. Even Skin Tone
Sleep encourages healthy blood flow to your skin. So, having an 8-hour sleep can make our skin look more clear and radiant with even skin complexion.
